a display of artwork, in harmony with nature

my wedding dress from the summer of 2017

I got there early… sat at the bar. Had a cocktail. Thought about leaving. Got up to leave. I made for the door. Can you imagine how everything would be different if I’d left? Do you follow? How things turn on a dime? You follow?

This show expands on a concept I began in the previous year under the project “Caesura.” In essence, the female body serves as a canvas. Her body carries the artwork, her skin tells the story. She is a moving, breathing art piece, the most significant one in every show. The idea aligns with a desire to see art move, and to see it borne by the bodies they’ve been shamed into hiding.

More importantly, I don’t want to tell a story about her. The story is her. Read her skin, follow her movement, she who is art.

A performance of calligraphy & poetry

“The impossible love” by Nizar Qabbani was read and translated by Zein el-Amine, while I painted a verse from the poem on skin.

“To reach you is suicide”
